Even if you choose to mount anything inside of here, the top of the air dam, there's a plastic guard that will have to be cut. You're not gonna be able to attach to that. more

When it's finished, you turn on your brake lights, your running lights, your turn signals, all those are going to transfer through to the vehicle while it's being flat-towed.Now the purpose of the diodes, is to protect the factory wiring on the Ford from any back feed from the RV. And vice versa it's going to protect the RV wiring from any back feed from the Ford's wiring. As far as the installation goes, it is a pretty simple installation. You will need a light tester to test the wiring to figure out which wires are your brake wire, and your running lights, and turn signals. Other than that, all you're doing is transferring wires, running a wire from the back to the front.First thing we need to do to start our installation, is we're going to go ahead and get everything out of the package. You're going to get 12 foot of green and brown wire, and you're going to get your 4-pole wire that's going to route to the front of the vehicle. more

When you have your motor home hooked up, you don't have to worry about the voltage going back through the vehicle's wiring, causing damage to any expensive electrical components inside the vehicle. You don't have to worry about using magnetic tow lights to put on your vehicle. I know that tow lights work, but they do run the risk of scratching the paint on your vehicle and it's one more thing that you have to keep track of.With this, you utilize the factory bulbs that are already in place in your taillight assembly. That's great because you don't have to worry about drilling any extra holes in your taillight assembly to put a secondary bulb in place, which is another way that moisture could get inside your taillight assembly. This will allow us to utilize the factory wiring in the very. more

We have our brake lights running right now and you can see that it's utilizing our factory brake light and turn signal on our vehicle. Also, what's great about this is that this plugs into our vehicle's existing wiring with no cutting or splicing required. So we don't need to worry about voiding the warranty on our new vehicle. Another great feature about this wiring harness is that there's diodes built into it. So we don't have to worry about power from our motor home going to our lights and then being backfed into our vehicle's expensive electrical components. more

Roadmaster Diode 7 to 6 Wire Coil Kit Installation - 2014 Ford Focus- Video

Roadmaster Diode 7 to 6 Wire Coil Kit Installation - 2014 Ford Focus

Speaker 1: Toady on our 2014 Ford Focus we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster diode seven wire to six wire Flexo-Coil wiring kit, part number RM-15267. This is gonna allow our Focus to accept the signals from our motor home for our brakes, turn signals, and taillights. It's gonna give us a six pin round connector on the front and it's gonna come with a six to a seven cord to connect to the front of our vehicle and the back of our motor home. Now the big benefit of having the diode kit in our vehicle is it's gonna alleviate the need for the big magnetic lights you see going down the road and running the wire along the edge of our car and potentially scratching it up as we drive down the road. Instead we're gonna be tapping into our factor lighting system and there's gonna be some diodes so it is gonna protect our vehicle against anything that may go wrong on the motor home end.Now since it is gonna be using our factory system I do want to mention that since our Focus has a separate turn signal from the brake the way we're gonna be wiring it up is the brake is actually gonna become our turn signal when we're flat towing it with our motor home. When we're driving it normally all of our lights are gonna function properly and we're not gonna have to worry about anything else. Now that we've see what our wiring looks like and kind of gone over some of the features let's show you how to get it installed. Now for our wiring I'm gonna start up top and since we have our fascia and headlight removed it's gonna make it a lot easier to get to the front of the vehicle. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford Edge Sport we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins Custom tail light wiring kit for towed vehicles, part number HM56011. What this wiring harness is going to do, it's going to give you all the proper lighting functions for your towed vehicle, your turn signals, your brake lights, your running lights and your ground. What's good about this wiring harness, it's going to hook directly into your factory tail lights and wiring. You're not going to have to make any splices, and it's going to have a diode kit, which means if you have a wiring issue in your RV, the diode kit is going to protect your factory wiring in your vehicle from getting damaged, and vice versa. Now let's go over the five main components of our flat tow set up on our Ford Edge. Here we're going to have the Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain tow bar, which is going to come with your safety cables, the Roadmaster EZ4 base plate, the Air Force One braking system, and the Hopkins custom fit towed vehicle wiring. The first thing we need to do to start our installation, we need to remove both of our tail lights. Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Ford Edge

Speaker 1: Today on our 2008 Ford Edge we're gonna take a look at and show you how to install the Hopkins custom taillight wiring kit for towed vehicles, part number is HM56000. Now a towed vehicle wiring harness is gonna be the perfect solution for enabling you to plug your motor home into the front of your vehicle and the lights work on the back so we can stay legal and have the signals we need. Now when the motor home sends the signal in it's gonna run through the wiring harness and to our diode converter. Here it's gonna be converted into a usable signal that our vehicle will recognize and operate the lights for us. We've got T connector harnesses that are gonna plug directly in to our factory connectors for the drivers side here and also for the passengers side so there's no splicing or cutting of our vehicle's wiring harness required. Now the diode harness is a very nice feature to have, this is gonna allow us to separate the two vehicle wiring systems. As we're using our car's lighting system we're not gonna have any back feed going up to our motor home plug area and when we're using our motor home signal as those signals come in they're not gonna be looped around and then sent into the vehicle system. It's a great way to protect our vehicle, our motor home to keep everything isolated at the same time. Now to get our harness installed we're gonna take off the taillight housings on each side, we'll use an eight millimeter socket and we want to take out the two screws that hold the housing in place. more

Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2011 Ford Escape

Speaker 1: Today on our 2011 Ford Escape we're gonna be installing the Roadmaster taillight wiring kit, part number RM-152-LED. This kit's gonna give you all of the necessary lighting you'll need when towing your vehicle, it uses a completely separate bulb and wiring so it doesn't tap into your vehicle's wiring at all. This can be useful on some vehicle where the module is circuit protected where it may cause the bulbs not to blink fast of the FET to prevent the bulb from working. It's also great if your vehicle's still under it's factory warranty as splicing into your wires can void your warranty on your wiring, so if you have a wiring issue you may be forking over the big bill. Now this does void the warranty on your tail lamps because you have to drill into it, however wiring repairs are typically much more expensive than taillight assemblies. The wiring included in the kit will run from the bulbs up to your existing four, six, or seven pole connector. When hooked up to your RV all the signals from your RV will be sent back to these bulbs providing you with your left turn, right turn, tail, and stop lamp signals. They're made of LEDs which typically last much longer than your conventional bulb. more

It's gonna allow you to safely tow your Ford behind your RV when you're traveling, give you all the proper functions for your lights, your brake lights, both turn signals, and your running lights. To complete a flat tow setup, you're gonna need a base plate, wiring, braking system, safety cables, and a tow bar.Now what this is going to do, this is going to take the place of temporary lights that you'd mount on your roof, or on the side of your vehicle, or on the back of your vehicle, that take up a lot of space. You have to take them off every time, fold them up, find some place to store them. These are going to be mounted directly to the factory wiring in your vehicle. Not only are you going to be safe driving down the road and following the rules and laws, you also are going to be comfortable knowing that the factory wiring in your vehicle is not going to be damaged because of the diodes. Today in 2014 Ford F-150, we will be installing the Roadmaster Diode 7 to 6 Flexo Wire Coiling Kit, part number RN-15267. Here's what our kit consist of. Most importantly, we have our wire here, our Flexo-Coil, which will connect the 7-way to our RV, and then the 6-pull round to the front of our vehicle that we're towing behind the RV. With this 6-pull round connector here, which we can secure to the front of our vehicle, using this bracket, like so. We have our 4 diodes here, that will allow us to tap in to our factory wiring, and not have to worry about a second control box, or module box. This will allow us to use the factory lights on the vehicle, without causing any damage to electrical system because the diodes will only allow current to pass in one direction, from either the vehicle side itself, to the factory lights while driving the vehicle, or the towed input, from the RV. It'll isolate the system, and still power the factory lights. We also have a roll of 4 pole flat, wiring here, to make our connection from our 6 pole round connector to our dio-packs. more
